Love the walks at Cradle Mountain. We went to devils@cradel which was so interesting. Really recommend it but keep your hands out of the devil enclosures! Bring warm clothes - lots of layers is best. We were there end of Feb and it was cold at night and early morning. We had a wild wombat just amble by, eating as it went.

Shuttle buses run frequently to the shores of Dove Lake, making it a must-see mountain resort in Tasmania for easy day-hiking. It's also great to be able to see wombats up close around Ronny Creek. If you have a national park pass, you can buy a shuttle bus ticket valid for 72 hours for $15, so we recommend staying near the visitors centre for 3 to 4 nights.

A lot of walks have well maintained paths so most people can use them. The scenery is fantastic but beware, be prepared, the weather can be very good one minute and cold and wet the next. Pay for the shuttle bus, it makes life easier.

Cradle Mountain is a long way from Hobart. Don't go the Queenstown route - it takes forever. Go via Launceston. The National Park is gorgeous. Use the boardwalk to hike up to the Creek. It's quiet and right there in the middle of the bush. We saw wallabies, birds and snakes. We hiked up to the Boat House and then used the shuttle bus back to the bus stop by our hotel. The shuttles are every 5-10 minutes. The rangers are great.

Beautiful sceneries and lots of nature walks to go on. Has waterfalls and Dove Lake too. You get a three day pass to the mountain, so should make at least a 2 nights if not 3 nights stay. We went in summer, early January, and it can get quite hot in the early to late afternoon. But it is all worth it. Good place to spot wildlife like wombats at Ronny Creek and Wallabies at your accommodation like Cradle Mountain Highlanders or Peppers Lodge.

Great spot to see wildlife on the walks. Wombats, echidnas, platypus, a snake! Easy or challenging walks depending on your abilities. Excellent shuttle service into the park. Stunning vistas all around. Take water and snacks, leave no rubbish behind, it's so beautiful up there. We had a 4 year old who completed the Dove Lake circuit - Lake Lilla track and Weindorfer's in one day. Enchanted and rainforest another afternoon. Different flora, fauna and terrain to see in each area.
