I was only in Belmont a short time for a boxing event however it was my second trip there and I would absolutely go back! I ate dinner at the squids ink restaurant which has a view of Lake Macquarie & serves excellent food! Westfield Katara is only a short drive away. Redhead beach is only a 5-10 minute drive away! It’s super easy to find your way around and there’s plenty of fishing & other activities to do!

Belmont Hotel Lake Macquarie is good value for money, centrally located to shops, local restaurants and sightseeing venues like Swansea, Caves Beach to the south and Newcastle and Nelsons Bay to the north. Staff were friendly and helpful, parking was free. Standard king room was clean and generous size, would have been nice to have a table and chair to eat. Bed and sheets were clean, air conditioning was perfect for the warm weather. Tea and coffee making facility are good but would have been nice to have refill of coffee as I stayed for 3 days at the hotel, bins weren't emptied out as well. Bathroom was clean, toilet and shower were both working fine. Overall, it was still a very pleasant stay at Belmont Hotel.

We enjoyed the tranquillity of the lake and various places in the vicinity to be able to do some walking. A very pleasant alternative to staying closer to Newcastle. Nearby Gunyah Hotel and 2 sailing clubs provide good dining

I like the area it is safe, the water front just down & around the corner is the most beautiful area for a morning stroll or a picnic. Lots of shady trees & the views are great , we saw the fire works on Saturday night, the grand kids were very happy.

I only used the Belmont location as a "base of operations" as it was central to the various family and extended family that I was catching up with. I could not fault the Wise Owl cafe [ate there 2 days in a row] and it's on my planed stops once I go back to Belmont - I was "ripped off" at the McDonalds and KFC drive throughs. I paid for numerous items [for myself and family members] only to find that there were items missing and or not the things I ordered. But when your driving it's not wise to pull over just to check, Certainly not worth going back to complain when they did not even give you a reciept - Belmont is Belmont. I left there in the 1970's - Not much has changed

We went to a nearby Yacht Club for dinner Friday night which was lovely then to a Bowling Club in Valentine for a party lunch on the Saturday. Both were overlooking the water and the food, wine and atmosphere was great.
